October Insight - A View From The Summit

A warm welcome to our October edition of A View from the Summit. We can’t believe how fast the year is going and we are already noticing a chill in the air, as the leaves brown and we move into Autumn. This month our blog post looks at the increasingly influential impact of Ethical Social Governance (ESG) on investment process and the investment market. The pandemic has brought social, ethical and environmental factors into sharper focus and we are finding our clients are asking deeper questions about the businesses they engage with and how they operate, and where their money is going. Alongside this governments are being lobbied to ensure any recovery is a sustainable or green one and this is pushing these factors into focus. It is a complex sector and we hope our post helps provide some more information and food for thought. This month we are also taking the time to introduce two other members of the team, David Rogers and Nicola Jones. Nicola has worked with Octagon for over 10 years and works predominately for Rod and Andy (Obviously too hard looking at her favourite meal)! Favourite Meal – any food that goes with wine! Favourite Holiday Destination – Cornwall Dream Dinner Guests – Peter Kaye, Hugh Jackman, Martin Luther King, Jane Austen David is front of house, he helps keep the office ticking over and works in the background to ensure the smooth running of the finance department, and loves a laugh (see his ideal guests!) Favourite  Meal – Lasagne Fav Holiday Destination – San Francisco Dream Dinner Guests – Ricky Gervais, Karl Pilkington, Billy Connolly, Peter Kay We hope you enjoy the read.
